Dermal fillers

  • Dermal fillers for lip/ cheek augmentation along with facial contouring

BENEFITS OF PROFESSIONAL DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers are a popular non-surgical treatment for lifting sagging skin, softening folds and creases and correcting volume loss in women and men. Cosmetic injectors have been using fillers successfully for facial rejuvenation and augmentation for many decades. Recent innovation in dermal filler technology has improved performance and longevity even more. If maintaining a youthful appearance is important to you, At Kiranlife Inc. we can help you reach your facial aesthetic goals. Dermal filler can refresh your overall appearance without surgery. Your injector can rejuvenate your under-eye area by filling in hollow tear troughs and camouflaging dark circles. The cheek area can be lifted or made to look more defined. New robust fillers can even give your jawline more definition and augment the chin. Finally, lip enhancement can add volume, definition and projection or simply hydrate lip lines. Advanced injection techniques used in our clinic result in less swelling and bruising. This allows our patients to have injections done on their lunch break and return to work with little evidence that they had anything done. Additionally, dermal fillers have become so specialized and sophisticated that they can produce surgical-quality results in only a few visits. The team at Kiranlife Inc. is here to answer all your questions about how fillers can help you look more radiant and youthful.

What is a dermal filler?

Dermal fillers can go by different names. They can be referred to as injectable fillers, facial fillers, cosmetic fillers, cosmetic injectables or just injectables. They fall into three categories: temporary, semipermanent and permanent. The advantage of resorbable fillers is that they are extremely biocompatible, last up to 24 months and can be reversed if necessary. A traditional needle or cannula (blunt tip needle) is typically used to administer dermal filler under the skin. Each one has its own merits and your physician will inform you which technique is most suitable for you. Also modern dermal filler is available in different molecular viscosities (gel thickness) and textures, which allows injectors to sculpt and contour the different parts of the face with extraordinary precision and skill.

How can dermal fillers improve my appearance?

While dermal fillers are sometimes referred to as “wrinkle fillers” they can do much more than treat wrinkles. They can restore volume, give your facial features more definition and lift sagging skin. Dermal fillers can help your appearance by:

  • Smoothing lines around your nose and mouth (perioral lines)
  • Reversing volume loss and deflation in cheeks and temples
  • Softening vertical lip lines (and the area above the lip)
  • Improving lip plumpness, definition and projection
  • Smoothing out a chin crease
  • Correcting facial asymmetry
  • Evening out an uneven nose bridge or bump

How do dermal fillers work?

As we age, our skin loses volume and elasticity. Natural collagen declines by 2% every year, with 30% of our collagen being gone by the time we’re in our 30’s. How quickly we age depends on a number of factors. Our collagen decline is mainly influenced by genetics, lifestyle and our amount of cumulative sun exposure throughout our lives. If you feel that you’re ageing prematurely or you’re bothered by skin laxity and wrinkles, dermal fillers can slow down or even reverse the visible signs of volume loss and collagen breakdown. Dermal fillers work by replacing lost volume with a natural gel. Specialised dermal fillers can be placed under the muscle (on top of bone) to elevate facial features and give support to areas such as cheeks, jawline and nose. Deeper injections can also be done to improve nasolabial folds and to contour the cheekbones. Superficial placement of filler in soft tissue is a common technique for softening lines and augmenting the lips. A good knowledge of facial anatomy is vital for practitioners performing deep injections.

Are there different types of dermal fillers?

They may vary in their molecular size, density, product longevity and the type of materials used. For instance, to enhance your lips, your doctor may choose a less viscous, or softer filler while more viscous, or dense filler may be better suited for contouring cheekbones or adding structure to replace bone. One of the most common types of temporary fillers is made from a natural sugar molecule which we all have in our bodies. It’s found in high concentrations in our skin, joints, and eyes. This molecule has a unique property of being able to hold 1000 times its own weight in water and to attract and bind water molecules. This makes it extremely useful in skincare for keeping the skin hydrated and giving it volume. The advantage of this filler in particular is that it’s highly biocompatible and allergic reactions are extremely rare. The body will gradually break down these molecules and the skin will return to its previous condition. If you love the results of your treatments then you’ll require maintenance injections every 6-24 months, depending on the type of product you choose. Natural fillers can be layered and the same area can be retreated multiple times with no adverse effects. These products have proven to be excellent dermal fillers in Kiranlife Inc. for smoothing wrinkles and folds, contouring facial features and restoring volume. In the semi-permanent category is another type of filler made from calcium based microspheres suspended in an aqueous gel carrier. These fillers work by stimulating your body to produce collagen around the microspheres, gradually improving facial volume and definition over several months. They tend to last upwards of 18 months and require maintenance injections, just like the resorbable fillers.

How long do dermal fillers last?

The longevity of your dermal filler will depend on a number of factors: the quantity and type of filler used and how quickly your body breaks it down. Sometimes individuals with slow metabolism tend to have longer results. A faster metabolism or activity such as vigorous exercise may shorten the longevity of your dermal filler. On average you can expect your injections to last 6-24 months. The placement of the filler can also affect how long it will last. Areas with more movement, such as the mouth, nasolabial folds and marionette lines, will generally result in filler breakdown much faster than cheeks, temples or chin. Also the denser the filler and the deeper the injection, the longer it can last. To extend the results of your treatment, your doctor can adjust the quantity and injection depth to ensure optimal outcomes.

Can a beauty therapist administer dermal fillers?

At Kiranlife Inc., all of our dermal filler injections are performed by a skilled and certified doctor. This gives our patients a higher degree of safety and ensures the highest quality of treatments. Health risks don’t only depend on the quality of product used. Practitioners who lack adequate qualifications, training and experience can sometimes cause complications. For this reason, choose your doctor and clinic carefully, just as you would for a surgical procedure.Dermal fillers are dispensed by prescription and only a certified medical doctor is sufficiently qualified to advise you with treatment. Even though it’s intended for cosmetic reasons, filler injections are still considered a medical procedure that calls for training and expertise. To achieve natural-looking results, select a doctor with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy, and a keen aesthetic eye. At Kiranlife Inc., we have performed thousands of successful dermal fillers. We have a proven history in cosmetic treatment and substantial experience performing filler injections.

What side-effects can I expect?

The incidence of adverse effects or serious complications are extremely rare in the hands of an experienced cosmetic physician. As with any cosmetic procedures the possibility of side-effects does exist. You may experience some redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site. The severity of bruising and swelling can depend on injection technique and areas being treated. Other possible side-effects include: lumpiness, inflammation and infection. In rare cases you may suffer an allergic reaction to the filler. It’s possible that the dermal filler may be injected into a vein or artery. If this happens, a dissolving agent will be administered instantly to reverse the filler. We recommend booking your dermal filler injections on a day when you can relax at home afterwards and not have to worry about going outside. You might be more comfortable applying ice-packs to your treated areas to minimise swelling and bruising. If you usually take non steroidal anti-inflammatory medications or other blood thinners, vitamin E, Fish Oil or St John’s Wort, you should discuss this with your doctor prior to treatment. It’s recommended to stop taking these medications for two weeks prior to your dermal injections as these medications have been associated with an increased possibility of bruising and bleeding.

What to expect during your treatment with dermal fillers at Kiranlife Inc.

Once you have decided on dermal fillers, you will meet the medical injection team here at the Kiranlife Inc. and begin your rejuvenation journey. The first step of your procedure is the pre-treatment consultation where you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss your aesthetic goals. During your consultation, your doctor will assess the area of the face you wish to enhance, as well as review your health history. Although the risks associated with dermal fillers are minimal, it’s important to disclose your clinical background fully before treatment. Health conditions such as allergies, skin and neurological disease or medications that you’re taking can influence your results. The second step is the injection procedure. Your skin will be cleansed and disinfected, and you may be offered a topical or injected anesthetic to numb the location before the injections. The anesthetic will ensure that the procedure is comfortable and as pain-free as possible. Depending on the products being used and the treatment area, you’ll probably see results right away. Some patients may experience bruising and swelling immediately or after several hours. Some areas swell more than others, such as lips, which can swell considerably more than other parts of the face. All swelling is short-lived and should resolve within 48 hours. You can return to work right after your treatment; however, you may want to skip the gym or other high energy activity for the rest of the day.

How can lip injections help me?

Our goal at Kiranlife Inc. is to give you a beautiful-looking mouth that suits your face and desired look. Creating lips that look natural yet stand out is our area of expertise. We can enhance the lip shape you currently have or change it slightly in order to correct an asymmetry and create a more aesthetically pleasing proportion. A common issue that many of our patients experience is having an upper lip that’s thinner than the bottom one. To address this concern, we can even out the proportions by adding more volume at the top. We can also improve lip definition across the Vermilion border and give the Cupid’s bow more prominence and outward projection. And then there’s enhancement of the lower lip for a really sensuouslook. Find out how having lip enhancements at Kiranlife Inc. can boost your appearance and selfconfidence.

What is the procedure for lip injections?

The first step to creating your desired pout is to sit down with our experienced injector. At Kiranlife Inc., all our injections are carried out by a qualified medical professional. During your personalized consultation, your injector will ask you what kind of lip shape and size you’re hoping to achieve. After fully examining your lips, your physician will discuss with you the most suitable strategy to help you attain your aesthetic goals. Finally, after reviewing your medical history to ensure that the treatment is suitable for you, we will proceed with your cosmetic lip enhancements. Kiranlife Inc., the home of Restoration Clinic, is the ideal place to perform your lip enhancement procedure. We offer high quality lip injections in Kiranlife Inc.. Prior to treatment your lips will be disinfected with a medical cleanser and an anesthetic may be given to prevent pain. The exact number of dermal filler syringes that will be used during your treatment will depend on the level of enhancement you want to achieve. The more volume you desire, the more product is required. Typically, one syringe will result in a modest enhancement. For fuller and more voluminous augmentation, up to 2-3 syringes may be used, spaced over several visits. We are happy to discuss the procedure with you in more detail to determine your goals. Lip injections can help you look and feel your best. Give us a call to book a consultation today.

Will the lip injections be painful and what are the side-effects?

We will make sure you’re as comfortable as possible during your visit by administering either topical or injectable anesthetic. Additionally, the lip fillers contain a local anesthetic that freezes the surrounding tissue as it’s being injected, adding another level of pain relief. After your treatment, your lips may be a little swollen. The swelling normally subsides within 48 hours at which point you’ll be able to see the final augmentation results. Bruising of the lips is very rare at our clinic. However, if you have a special occasion planned, it’s recommended to schedule your appointment at least 2-4 weeks in advance. To ensure the highest levels of safety and the most aesthetically pleasing outcomes, the person performing your lip injections should be an experienced and qualified medical professional. Our experienced clinicians understand facial anatomy and how to give you the most beautiful and natural looking lips possible. Keep in mind that resorbable lip fillers can be easily dissolved with an enzyme. In the event that you’re not happy with the results or your doctor needs to reverse your lip filler for any reason, the dissolving agent is always available on hand.

How much cosmetic filler should I have injected into my lips? At Kiranlife Inc., our philosophy is “less is more.” Going from small to voluminous lips cannot always be achieved in one appointment. We’d rather start with one or two syringes during your first visit and administer additional lip injections over several sessions. This will give your lips time to get adjusted and be able to accommodate more filler. If you don’t want your lip augmentation to be obvious to everyone around you, then slowly building volume over time is a good strategy.
